I've been meaning to post about this for quite some time now. I need to clarify for myself personally that brands don't mean anything to me. Some people say it's an assurance for quality, others think of it as a sort of status setting. I prefer comfort over everything else... and have been looking for a pair of comfortable shoes for a long time. Not the terrible tall shoes that work calls for, just to make my 5'2 stature look more like 5'4. I have a pair of yonex shoes for badminton and that has lasted me at least 5 years... with 2 years of hiatus from badminton actually, but I used to wear them outside, not just in courts, which kinda ruined them a bit.
Then I read about Onitsuka Tiger. Just the name of it sounds so cool.

It had the inner support that doesn't do away the natural arc of the feet, it feels extremely comfortable, it's flat and light, unlike those trendy converse chuck taylors.

It's made for running. Or walking. Either one, which I do quite a bit of, with or without comfortable shoes, but having a pair of good shoes makes such a difference, not just to the feet in general, but to comfort, posture, etc.

I knew about Onitsuka Tiger for a long time, but never actually got around to getting a pair because... well, the price tag of $180 for a pair of shoes was never justified in my head. To some, it's spare change, but I don't tend to spend so much on clothes/bags/shoes. I can justify $180 for a badminton racket, or a psp, or a camera... but shoes? Nah.

Then BW took me to Chatswood where there's a factory outlet for the store Hype (thanks!). They stock Onitsuka Tigers, amongst many other types of shoes. Less than $100! Sure, the size is half too big for me, but sneakers are ok being slightly big. I forgot the exact price tag now (it's good to forget, so you don't start feeling all guilty and stuff) but no regretting because it is one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I own... which doesn't say much, but hey, I can walk for hours with these on! Bring on those long hikes and walks, FL! If you don't make it so early in the morning on Saturday next time...

Nice, glad you're loving them.
Another way to look at it is well.. you spend so much of your life on your feet you may as well treat them right, right?!
So have I gotten the all-clear to get another pair? :) *eyes schuh.co.uk*
